Karissa McKelvey

Software engineer leading teams to successful delivery of complex applications and helping open source ecosystems thrive. She is the Director of the Dat Protocol as well as co-founder and board member of Code for Science and Society. Formerly a data scientist, her work as a research scientist at Indiana University studying online political communication resulted in multiple peer-reviewed papers and has been featured in high-profile news outlets such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and NPR. She lives in Oakland and spends free time as a music producer and trumpet player.
